Assessment and Evaluation
Psychoeducational AssessmentAll children have the ability to learn and succeed. However, sometimes children face challenges that affect their ability to reach their full potential. A child’s educational functioning can be impacted by factors associated with intelligence, processing weaknesses, memory/attention difficulties, ADHD, dyslexia, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorders, behavior struggles or emotional problems such as anxiety, depression and trauma.
I use a comprehensive battery and a variety of standardized tests and tools to help get to the root of what is impacting your child’s educational progress and to identify, understand and describe these in a detailed report with targeted recommendations for interventions. Once you have the report, you can decide if you want to share the results with the school. Typically, schools have the option to consider private assessment data as part of their own assessment in order to determine if the data match the special education eligibility criteria of one or more of the 13 categories. |
Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)In certain circumstances, school districts and parents may seek an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE), which is an assessment conducted by a private practitioner as specified in the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). Typically an IEE is requested when a parent or a member of the school team does not agree with the results of the school’s evaluation.
As the private practitioner, I conduct the IEE for the purpose of determining special education services. My assessment becomes part of your child’s educational record. |
Psychoeducational assessments are designed to identify the root causes of a student’s academic or behavioral difficulties and social-emotional challenges. The data and information they provide enable us to design a unique plan with targeted interventions that enable your child to thrive.
